The Varsity Boys Basketball team started off the 2017-18 season with a bang on Tuesday night last week by beating Harrison 57-34. The Tigers were led in scoring by Junior big man Will Sarkozi with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Senior guard Jared Bader ignited the team with 17 points (10 of which was scored in the 1st qtr). Senior guard Isiah Thomas scored 9 points and 7 assists. This was a solid team win.
The Tiger’s next home game will be next Friday, December 15 at 6pm vs. North Rockland in the palmer Gym. That game is listed as a Black out. Everyone should come out and support the Tigers!

The MHS PTSA is having a holiday sale on MHS apparel and gear on December 11th and 12th during lunch in the overpass. Don’t forget to bring money to buy sweatshirts, t-shirts and jewelry, but also for new items such as PJ pants, Swell water bottles, beanie hats and more! All Items range from $3 – $25 and proceeds go towards the PTSA.
The Midnight Run Club** is having a drive for clothes and other materials around the school. They are welcoming all clothing donations, especially in large sizes: shirts, pants, jeans, jackets, hats, gloves, and scarves. The Midnight Run Club is also are looking for shoes, blankets, and backpacks/drawstring bags. Bins will be located at the glass doors, the Palmer entrance, the J-lot entrance, by the nurse’s office, and at a Starbucks entrance. All donations should be in by December 15th, in time for the winter run.
**For those that don’t know, Midnight Run is an organization that puts together nighttime trips into the city to distribute food, toiletries, and clothing to the homeless.
Just to clarify, the Debate team meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 to 5:15 in the Tiered Classroom.
The Social Events Committee – the people who throw The Phoenix (school dance), the Holiday Cake Walk and the Senior Citizens Prom is looking for about 8 new members. Sign up for an interview outside Carol Scheffler’s office. Interviews will be held on Wed. November 1 at lunch and after school, and Thursday, November 2 at lunch. Pink Day Celebration is Friday, October 27th. The Stand Up 2 Cancer club will be selling lanyards, t shirts, tattoos, magnets and bracelets…. And giving ribbons with a donation. Look for them in the overpass and outside the glass doors in Post Lot. WEAR PINK! And, donate to help fight breast cancer.
The Community Clean Up Club is meeting on Saturday, November 4th, 10:00am at the Post glass doors for their first litter pickup. All are welcome and any and all help is appreciated!
As you likely know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Stand Up 2 Cancer Club will be organizing their annual fundraiser throughout the week next week culminating with their annual PINK PARADE on Friday, October 27th. To participate in the “Parade”, wear PINK on Friday, October 27th!! Pink shirt, pink shoes, pink tie, pink nails, pink hair, pink socks…it all works! You can also Make a donation directly with Ms. Rinaldi (advisor of the Stand Up 2 Cancer club) or at the SU2C table in the overpass on Friday. The club will also be selling pink ribbon lanyards ($5), THINK PINK t-shirts ($10), and pink ribbon tattoos ($1). The club hopes to see you there!
All levels of prospective boys basketball players MUST visit the Tiered Classroom Friday 10/27/17 during lunch (11am) for an interest meeting. Again, all interested players must attend.
